The University of Jaffna proudly hosted the ONE BILLION RISING 2025 event in a spirited call for gender equality and social justice. Held alongside the official launch of “GESI” Catalyst Magazine Vol.1, the day brought together passionate voices and powerful stories, united under the mission of Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI).
The event was honored by the presence of Chief Guest, Prof. S. Srisatkunarajah, Vice Chancellor of the University, and Guest of Honour, Rev. Fr. S. Anpurasa, both of whom delivered inspiring speeches that set the tone for an unforgettable day.
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the GESI Catalyst Magazine, a new publication that aims to amplify diverse voices and foster critical conversations on gender equity within and beyond the university.
With energetic performances, heartfelt testimonials, and an audience committed to change, the event served as a reminder that real impact begins with awareness, dialogue, and collective action.
