Workshop Highlight | Tourism and Hospitality Management Unit, University of Jaffna
The Tourism and Hospitality Management Unit, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Jaffna, successfully conducted a specialized workshop on “Inclusive and Community-Based Tourism (CBT): Designing Community-Owned Tourism Models and Benefit-Sharing Loops” on 14 June 2026.
We were privileged to welcome Dr. J. Vivekananthan, Chairman of the Tourism Bureau, Northern Province, as the principal resource person, with the participation of Mr. S. Kishokkumar, Director of the Tourism Bureau, Northern Province, as a co-resource person.
The session provided third- and fourth-year undergraduate students with valuable insights into community-driven tourism development, equitable benefit-sharing, sustainable destination management, and the Northern Province Tourism Roadmap to 2026. Through practical examples and interactive discussions, students gained a deeper understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with Community-Based Tourism in Northern Sri Lanka.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the resource persons for sharing their expertise and inspiring our future tourism professionals.
